The former Roma manager has been linked with a move away from Gli Elefanti; however the club has asserted that the tactician will be staying at the club.
The Rossazzurri have been the revelation of the season, and stand in contention for a place in Europe, and all the plaudits have been going to their manager, Vincenzo Montella.
Montella started his career from AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, where he took over the duties as a caretaker manager.
The Roma star took over the managerial reigns after Claudio Ranieri was sacked midway through an abysmal season. Under Montella’s reign Roma surged back up the table into a respectable sixth position. However,
this was not enough for the new Roma owners, who went for Luis Enrique as the new manager. Consequently, Catania came in and swooped for Montella as their head coach.
The former Sampdoria star has turned around the fortunes of the Etnei and they are punching much above their weight. They are performing exceptionally well, and have caused a lot of upsets through the course
of the season.
This success has alerted many clubs, who now seem to want the Italian to coach their teams. Catania have denied any news of the departure of the manager by stating:
“Montella has another year left on his contract with us. I think he will stay with us and we haven’t even considered any other possibilities when it comes to the Coach.”
Antonino Pulvirenti, the Elefanti President, went on record to suggest that his club were not thinking of parting ways with the manager. He further went on to praise the tactician’s past and qualities which
has helped him in managerial success. Adding on to his statement, he said:
“Montella was already a leader as a player, even if a silent one. He has an important past and he has shown a great desire to do well as a Coach. He already proved that at Roma last season. Here he has found
a good framework and he’s doing really well.”
Montella has been constantly linked with moves to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, and has suggested that he might be interested in a move to Naples.
