Question:

Cataract eye surgery-So sensitive to light?

My grandpa has cataract surgery on his eye about 3 weeks ago. He is really sensitive to light and his eye is always watering. He has the stitch still in his eye but he says it always feels like there is something in it and it irritates his eye. He even has to wear sun glasses to watch t.v. I was just wondering what could be wrong. He is a diabetic that's why they left the stitch in his eye for a while..or at least thats what the doctor said. Could something be going wrong?

  1. It's normal to be light sensitive after cataract surgery. For the duration that the cataracts were developing, your grandfather got used to less and less light entering his eyes. The lens in his eye was becoming opaque and light did not pass through as brightly as it does now. With the lens implant he is getting a great deal more light entering the eye and it will take awhile for him to get adjusted to that.
