Question:

Cataracts?

What age can you get them? Is it mainly in older people?

I'm 23 turning 24 in August... I'm thinking something is wrong with my eye... Blurred on one part of my left eye, feels like the goop in your eye when you wake up, tried rubbing it lightly and rinsing it.. doesn't seem to help. I've had it for a week now, not sure what it is or what had caused this. Been rinsing my eye also 2-3x daily as well. Will be going to the Docs in the next couple days also.

If anyone could help me out here with any info, would be greatly apprieciated.

  1. By what you said, I'm not suspecting you have cataracts. If you did, you would have cloudy, milky vision which worsens, eventually making you lose sight.

Age isn't the only factor. If you're a diabetic, you're at risk of getting them too. Constant exposure to sunlight can also contribute to the risk.

You should really see your doctor because the answers here can't treat you physically and many conditions display the same symptoms.

    Good luck.

  2. Your symptoms have nothing to do with cataracts. Rest easy.

Cataracts are mainly age related, but are also caused by trauma, or disease...as well as those who are born with them.

They are known to develop at any age in certain cases, but by the symptoms you mention, that isn't a sign of it at all.

  3. My husband had them at 30 so... I don't think age has anything to do with them.
