Ok, as a new mom (also a single mom, by the way), I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I would really like to my NASCAR addiction. I've missed out on QUITE alot.

So, will someone please fill me in on the big details of this season?

Especially any news about Elliott Sadler... (He's my fav driver... Good news would be best, lol).

Thanks y'all! :)

  1. To go along with what they have already said.  The COT is performing well.  Tony Stewart is leaving Joe Gibbs and starting his own team and taking Ryan Newman with him.  Junior has won 1 race this year and is 3rd in the point standings for the Chase.

I also have bad news for you.....Elliot has gotten engaged.  It's true he is getting married during the off season.  I shed a tear as well, but he sure seems happy....rats!  LOL!!!

  2. I understand the single mom thing as I am one too. My son is 2 years old. Johnny is so cute!

As someone has already said, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards are winning a lot. Elliott is 20th in points with 2 top 5s and 6 top 10s. Not a bad season for him so far.

  3. Well, i am also a huge Elliott Sadler fan and i have to tell you... he is engaged to get married. He also is going to stay with GEM so thats good.

Tony Stewart is going to co-own a team next year and going to have Ryan Newman who is leaving Penske at the end of the year. So there will be different drivers in those cars next year

  4. Here's an article I read with my own answers added in from July 2008

NASCAR’s premier series is in their first full year with the Car of Today, and it has undergone some criticism.  It actually got so out of hand that NASCAR President Mike Helton called a mandatory meeting to tell drivers to basically, “Shut up and drive.”

The first half of the Sprint Cup Series season has provided NASCAR fans with some good, bad, and very ugly races.

On paper, for the most part, this is a record breaking season for competition.  The California race had a record 33 lead changes, the Coca-Cola 600 had 2,580 green flag passes, that was up almost 900 from the 2007 Coca-Cola 600.  The Michigan race tied a track-best 3,204 green flag passes.

NASCAR is getting more coverage than ever.  TV Ratings are up for the most part from last year.  Although some tracks are struggling with attendance, tracks are still selling out.

NASCAR is also going through some economic hardships.  Sponsors willing to fork out millions of dollars a year are few and far between.  Teams are shutting down, Petty Enterprises sold 50% of their company to Boston Ventures.

The competiton is also even, all four manufacturer’s have won at least three races.  All four manufacturer’s are represented in the top 12 in driver points.  There has been 10 different race winners, 11 different pole winners, 74 drivers have attempted to qualify for at least one Sprint Cup Series race, and 46 driver had led at least one lap.  All evidence that NASCAR has accomplished one goal — make competitors and manufacturer’s even.  Chevy no longer has a stangle hold on the field.  In fact, the first Chevy in the top last week at Daytona will Dale Earnhardt Jr. who finished 8th.

Also, Hendrick Motorsports is apparently struggling.  Despite the fact that they only have two wins, and have three of their drivers in the top six in points.  At this point in the season, Hendrick Motorsports drivers had 10 wins.

Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Ryan Newman all led the points standings for the first time in their careers this year.  And, Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle are back!  They are both back in the top 12, and Kahne has two wins so far.

And don’t forget.  The most-popular driver is showing that he indeeds deserves the attention.  He ended a two year winless streak with a win at Michigan, he has matched his 2007 numbers already, which is answering the question on how Dale Jr. would perform in 2008 after leaving DEI in 2007.

Speaking of DEI, recently, sources close to DEI are reporting that DEI could be sold to Max Siegel for as much as $130 million, which would take Teresa out of the picture.  This is still developing, but could get very interesting.

And, you can’t talk about the 2008 season without talking about Silly Season — 2009 edition.

Rumors have been circulating and some are very tasteful.

Joe Gibbs Racing will go to four teams.  Add Joey Logano in the 20 after Stewart leaves to buy into Haas CNC Racing with Ryan Newman as a teammate, and you get headlines for the rest of the year.

Stewart and Newman become teammates at HAAS

Mears gets kicked out of HMS and leaves to drive the 07 for RCR while Bowyer will be in a fourth car #33.

Kyle Busch has 8 wins and it seems Edwards is the only one who can hang with him.

  5. Kyle Busch 8 wins...Carl Edwards 6 wins, ans Sadler is engaged, you are now caught up

  6. Kyle Busch has won 8 races, Carl Edwards has won 6 races feud building between the 2  Elliott still in the 19 and doing ok..he finished 4th at Indy

  7. most of these people are pretty cool -they'll try to help you

i would if i knew how to type ha-ha

but watch out for some of these ******* -they dirty

  8. Well there so much it would be almost impossible to cover it all but I can tell ya about some of it.

Kyle Bush and Carl Edwards have pretty much dominated the season thus far and are currently not on the best of terms with each other lol. Kyle has won 8 races in cup as well as quite a few more in the Truck and Busch series. Carl has 6 wins and is currently 2nd in the pts to Busch.

As pretty much everyone knows Tony Stewart will be leaving JGR at the end of this season to drive for his co-owned Stewart-Hass racing. He will not be taking his CC Zippy with him.

Newman will also be leaving his ride at seasons end with Penske to drive for Stewart-Hass

Richard Childress racing will be expanding to 4 cars next year with Casey Mears as the 4th driver. There are still many other details that are still being worked out there as far as owner points and cars.

Mark Martin is leaving DEI to go part time in the #5 car at HMS with Brad Keselowski.

Joey Lagono is replacing Stewart at JGR in the #20 next season and is scheduled to make his first cup start in a few weeks at Richmond.

Theres tons of other stuff but thats just some of the biggest stuff. And as far as Sadler goes, he's not had the best luck so far this season and is currently sitting 20th in pts. Although he has been running much better then most of the results show and I expect him to get a win soon. I don't know about much else about him but I'm sure Tom G would be able to fill you in on a lot more lol.
