Catchanova confident to gain second straight success
When the Eve Johnson Houghton trained bay gelding, Catchanova, won the class 5 race at Goodwood on August 26, many sport analysts resorted to predict that the veteran horse would surely register a sterling success at Salisbury. Today is the time for the brilliant sprinter to prove this claim as he is lined-up among 13 competitors to run in the CGA Racing Excellence Apprentice Handicap (Whips Shall Be Carried But Not Used).
The five-year-old talented gelding is supposed to show his guts on the good course of 1 mile. He will face such sort of race conditions after a long time; thus, he may take a little time to adjust to this.
Catchanova last ran at Salisbury in July 2011, but that was a pathetic performances. He is determined to conquer the venue this time at every cost.
During May-June 2012, the son of Catcher In The Rye out of Head For The Stars registered a couple of thirds. The one was Smiths News Handicap while the other was Annual Membership At Great Yarmouth Racecourse Handicap.
Then there came two pathetic performances. The Irish horse improved a little and finished 4th in the Grease Night! Sat 11th August Classified Selling Stakes, held at Lingfield on July 21. He stood 7th in the very next race at the same venue.
At last, the G. J. King bred gelding accomplished a victory at Goodwood. That was the Anglo-Irish Stakes (Amateur Riders' Handicap) (In Memory of The Late g*y Kindersley).
Following this success, Catchanova got some taxing training to build up on the momentum. Thus, we can expect that he will look to be assertive in today’s marathon.
No one can deny victory to Catchanova except Daffydowndilly who has been in good form since winning the Piper Heidsieck Handicap at Brighton. During the last three weeks of the last month, the Hughie Morrison trained bay filly had an extensive work-out in school. She seems to be well-prepared for the coming.
Hence, a fierce battle is imminent between these two runners. Catchanova will need an exceptional performance to thrive. The spar will be exciting. Good luck to the both.
