I have to catch a train to london in a few weeks but because i have to be in london by 8am the train i need to catch leaves from here at 4am, and i have double checked and there is a train that leaves at 4am but the station i have to catch it at doesnt open until 5am. So i was wondering as anyone else experienced anything like this? is there usually a side entrance? what did you do? Thank you.

  1. Yes, there would be a side entrance open even if the ticket office is closed. If there is no ticket machine, and you don't already have a ticket, you can buy on board and there is NO surcharge IF the ticket office is closed and there's no ticket machine. However, the full range of fares may not be available. Best to buy tickets in advance anyway as they're cheaper.

  2. You can always get to the platform whether the ticket office is open or not, just be sure you book your tickets in advance, because they can charge you morer to pay on the train.
