Question:

Catchy Show Names (or just a barn name in general) =]?

I really really don't like my horse's name and show name. (Gonzo and we dug up the papers and found that he's show name is Gonzo Bid) Makes no sense to me. And I'd like to change it. I've been pondering about this for quite some time, and I can't really think of anything, could ya guys help me? He's an older QH/Arab gelding. He's a sorrel (I call him my little red head) and has a star and a sock on his left hind leg. He is VERY stubborn and does things to get under your skin, he was like A.D.D. or somthing too. Haha (he can be completely random at times). But he really cares for people, he never wants to hurt them, and looks out for them. He can be real sweet and tries he's best when he's needed too (like giving a child a first lesson or if he's in the show ring) He definely loves attention. When your taking pictures he almost poses and gets all "I'm all that". Basically, he needs to be the center of attention at all times. He also thinks he's a stud. He loves the ladies, he tries to

  1. LOL "Gonzo" for an ADD horse that is stubborn, wants attention and gets under your skin sounds just right to me, because that is Hunter S. Thompson's word.

In keeping with that, what about something having to do with him or a famous writer?  It would certainly be unique.  Maybe Cyrano de Bergerac?

Or maybe I just like really weird names...

  2. Do you want something that reflects his breeding or his personality?  I like greek names for horses like Zeus, Skotos, Eros, Hades and Apollo but Romeo is cute. I think a dignified registered name is important. I had a horse whose registered name was Semper Fidelis I am big into latin names as well since I majored in it.

  3. go to www.horsenames.com   you should be able to find a name there, or get some ideas

  4. why not just "red" as his barn name and "stubborn little red head" as his show name.

i dont know about anyone else, but the moment i read little red head , i automatically liked it.

    good luck!

  5. i think a cute name for a horse would be "mater"

like in the car movie, tow-mater

    :-p but no tow

or i once knew a horse named J.D

for john deere, i thought that was cute too :-]

  6. his coloration (red),  and personality wants me to call him "Flying Dutchman" or "Dutch" for short.

I think "Little Red Head" is nice for a name, you already call him that anyway.  Shorter names would be "Little Red" and "Red Head" or "Little Head"

  7. well.. i do not know if i am spelling this right, but i like the name Bosefuss,  you pronounce it bo see fuss... haha it is so cute that is what we are going to name my buckskin mares baby!!!  you could call hom bou for short...

  8. Little Red Corvette=Prince

  9. What are his sire and dam's names?

  10. lol if that was my horse i would call him stud (short for stud muffin) just bc he sounds like he would be my little stud that loves to be center of attention and is prolly a lady's man lol (i bet the mares love him )

  11. Fire Chief

    Fire Boss

    Some Like It Hot

    Ima Hot Shot

    Go To Blazes

    All Fired Up
