Cate Campbell claims Women’s 100m freestyle title in Tokyo: 2011 FINA World Cup Series
Summer Universiade champion, Cate Campbell of Australia stunned her followers with to versatile swim on the final day of the seven-stop 2011 FINA World Cup in Tokyo, on Sunday, November 13. Campbell pocketed Women’s 100m freestyle title.
Aussie young gun, Cate Campbell inflated her rivals including Haruka Ueda of Japan and Yi Tang of China by clicking the finishing fence in a breathtaking time of 52.31 seconds to clinch the Women’s 100m freestyle title. Campbell had been the gold medallist
in 4x100m freestyle at the 2011 Summer Universiade meets, in Shenzhen. In addition, she claimed two bronze medals in 50m and 4x100m freestyle races at the 2008 Olympics edition, in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Ueda earned silver medal by thumping the finishing barrier in a time of 53.34 seconds in the respective race. Additionally, the bronze title went to Tang in a mark of 53.40 seconds. In the meantime, Lisbeth Trickett claimed fourth spot by thrashing
the finishing cordon in a blot of 53.80 seconds.
Trickett bagged three gold titles during the 2004 and 2008 Olympic editions, in Athens and Beijing, respectively. In addition, she notched five gold titles at the 2006 Commonwealth editions, in Melbourne.
Afterwards, Merindah Dingjan of Australia rose to the expectations of her followers in Tokyo’s arena when she knocked the finishing blockade in a unique time of 54.00 seconds to claim fifth spot in the respective race. Moreover, Hanae Ito of Japan earned
sixth position in a time of 54.20 seconds. Ito was the gold medallist in 100m back-stroke at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championship editions, in Victoria.
Furthermore, Yayoi Matsumoto of Japan picked seventh spot by touching the finishing blockade in a mark of 54.47 seconds, while Tomoko Hagiwara of Japan settled at eighth place in a blot of 54.53 seconds. Finally, the gold titlist of the respective meet,

The seven-stop meet ended this weekend in Tokyo, where the performances of Australian, South African, Japanese and Swedish swimmers were considered to be the best.
