Category Seven to take yet another shot at the River Cities and try to win it this time at Louisiana Downs
The 6-year-old Kenneth Hargrave trained mare, Category Seven, has been winning mostly everything Louisiana Downs has to offer, and there are a few stakes races which she hasn’t claimed in all of her racing career, she has even gone on to defeat the males
in a stakes race last season.
However, the race that has eluded her is the $100,000 River Cities time and time again, and she hasn’t been able to win it, though she has rolled in as the runner up in the last two editions of the race, but could never land it.
Trained by Kenneth Hargrave for James Perron Racing Stable, Category Seven has just about seen and done everything, and her record at the local racecourse speaks for it self as she has gone on to win 5 times out of her 9 starts at Louisiana Downs.
The $100,000 event is the last leg of an all-stakes, and it is a guaranteed pick four for those runners who run the 9 to 12 races on the Super Derby card, and the River Cities will reel in 8 fillies and mares.
The daughter of Gulf Storm, out of Spectacular Lace by Jokester, Category Seven has finished second in her last three races, a trend which trainer Kenneth Hargrave would be hoping to reverse in the River Cities on 10 September, 2011.
“It might be payback,” he quipped. “It might be our time.” said Kenneth Hargrave.
Her usual ride Richard Eramia will take the responsibility to guide the mare to victory in the River Cities, and trainer Kenneth Hargrave believes that if she comes off the pace then she will be doubly difficult to defeat.
Quite obviously a plan will be set before the race, and Richard Eramia will be in the loop, but only time will tell how well the jockey can execute it on the field.
Richard Eramia would know Category Seven well, because he has been riding the filly for quite some time now, but recently he has come excruciatingly close to a win, thrice, but couldn’t convert a good effort into a win.
