Caterham boss Tony Fernandes says factory working hard to improve team performance – Formula 1 news
Caterham Principal Tony Fernandes has said that the work rate in the factory has intensified as the team plans to improve its performance.
Caterham is looking to move up to the midfields in the 2012 season. The team has been able to pull of 10th place finishes in both 2010 and 2011 seasons. Previous year was very profitable for the team because of the finishing in the top ten twice the team
acquired a bigger chunk of the prize winnings. Fernandes said that the prize winnings are going to help the team build up for 2012.
“While the race team has had a very well deserved couple of weeks off since the end of the Malaysian race, the work rate in the factory has intensified as we keep up the development fight off track. This time last year we wanted to bring updates to each
race, but we were not in a financial or logistical position to do so. This year we can do just that, and that is another sign that we are going in the right direction,” said Fernandes.
He added that before the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix the team had a clear idea of where they stood relative to other teams on the grid and from the results, they had a clear idea that the team is on the right track. The management now understands
exactly what needs to be done in order to keep on closing in on the gap to the teams ahead.
Firstly the team is looking to improve upon the qualifying pace and so far the efficiency has been pretty good and maximising the tyre performance is also going to play a major role in improving. Making these little tweaks are going to make the major difference
of getting those points that the team is looking for.
The updates that are seen on the car the team could only dream of in previous seasons so it is a very good and positive sign for the whole management. It also goes on to show how motivated the camp is to do their best for the season ahead.
