Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen aims for good finish in 2012 Monaco GP – Formula 1 news
Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen is aiming for a good finish in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix with an improved car as compared to the preceding year in which he stood at 14th position.
Kovalainen has not been able to score even a single point in the season so far. However, he is looking forward to perform well in the next race at Circuit de Monaco on May 27. Moreover, he believes that Monaco circuit will provide the team with an opportunity
to join the midfield fight.
Furthermore, he praised the track of the forthcoming race and called it one of the biggest motorsport events around the globe. He added that being an F1 driver, he really enjoys driving in such street circuits.
“Monaco's the race everyone in F1 wants to win, and it's not just a famous F1 race, it's one of the biggest annual events in the world,” he said. “For drivers it's a hardcore race, in and out of the cars, but it's a challenge I really enjoy and racing around
the streets is one of the highlights of being an F1 driver.”
In addition, he said that they are hoping for something special in the approaching race. Besides, he said that he delivered one of his best performances of the previous season in Spain while he targeted to improve his pace this year.
Moreover, he said that they have a car which is competent enough to secure a competitive finish in this season. Additionally, he expressed that their car is somewhat easier on the tyres as compared to the other contenders which will provide them with an
advantage over others in the race ahead.
“We have KERS this year and a car that has good pace, and is slightly easier on the tyres than some of the teams ahead, maybe that will help us achieve a high race finish,” he said.
Over and above, Hingham based team is trying its best to make the significant developments and the necessary preparations so as to enhance the pace of the car in order to secure a competitive finish in 2012 F1 World Championship.
