Caterham getting ready to move to a new base in Leafield – Formula 1 news
Caterham team principal, Tony Fernandes has said that they are preparing to move to their new base in Leafield in West Oxfordshire, England after the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Fernandes said that he was pleased to see the excitement of all the workers who are making the essential preparations to shift the team’s setup to Leafield. Moreover, he said that they have already begun operations to renovate their new headquarters for
future functioning.
In addition, it will be important to mention that the Hingham based team has planned to bring F1 and GP2 race teams together under one shade as the Caterham cars, Caterham Composites and Caterham Technology and Innovation.
“Work has now started at Leafield,” Fernandes said. “The first task is to refurbish whole site and prepare it for long and successful future. While that work is taking place F1 team's race trucks have left Hingham with our 2012 race cars for last time.
The next time they are back in UK they will go straight to Leafield and that’s excellent news for everybody associated with Caterham Group.”
Furthermore, he said that more than two hundred staff members are going to move to their new base in the following weeks. Besides, he expressed that he is very much pleased with all the efforts of the team members in refurbishing the new headquarters.
“This is why I am so excited about what we have ahead of us, and this is why I am now dreaming of bigger, better and more ambitious plans than ever before,” he said.
On the other hand, the technical director of Caterham, Mark Smith said that the new site will provide them with more opportunities to recruit new personnel in the team.
It will be important to mention that although Caterham have not been able to score even a single point in the season so far. Nevertheless, they have planned to come up stronger with some essential upgrades in their car in the races ahead so as to join the
midfield battle.
Over and above, they are positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
