Caterpillars, cocoons, butterflies oh my! lol need some help?

ok, my mom got a bunch of caterpillars from work, because they were eating the parsley plants and she was told that they would turn into butterflies. Some have already turned into cocoons, how long does it take for them to turn into butterflies? And do we have to do anything special while they are in their cocoons?

First, it was a caterpillar. It will eat and eat some leaves. Then, it will wrap itself into a cocoon. After several days sleeping inside the cocoon, it will turn into a butterfly. You don't have to do something special. Just wait for them to turn into a butterfly.

They know what they are doing, they will turn to butterfly's all on their own.  How long depends upon the species.
