Cathay Pacific Ticket Question?

My boss bought me a flight from Rome to Sydney on his AmEX card for a conference, but on the recipet it says he must present the credit card used in order to book in?

He's not the one flying! What is gunna happen? Will they let me on?

Ask Cathay.

Your boss should physically present his card to any Cathay Pacific ticketing office or airport desk for verification. If he's done that already, then you won't have to do it when you check in.

You can still fly without his card being verified, but you will have to pay some sort of guarantee when you check in.

I would call Cathay but as long as your name is on the ticket, that is most important.  It is not unusual for someone else to pay for another person's plane ticket.  I would not worry to much about it.
