i am thinking about buying shad that i saw. they were in a package from the company killerbee, and do not need to be frozen. they were alive at one point and on the package it says great for bottom feeders such as catfish, bass etc. but my question is how do i use them? do i let them sit on the bottom like a night crawler? or reel them in slowly?

  1. A dead bait will not catch  bass, you could sat they're like snakes, they will not eat it if it is not alive. However, you may be rig the sad on an in-line spinner bait with a short shanked "J" hook, or a number 5/0 weedless hook if you use the J hook than than rig in through the lips, if you choose to use the weedless hook rig it weedless like any other soft bait for bass.

    ```good catchin```
  2. catfish , slide your line through the eye of a big sinker 2 oz or better if in a river with current attach a large hook on end of line pinch a medium shot about 2 ft. from hook between hook and larger sinker. Cut large chunk from shad hook in the middle and let it set.                                                                       bass, on the other hand can be rigged the same way but with a small float  next to the hook. hook the shad through both eyes.and drift fish.
  3. well either way but with me it is always a lot more efective if you leave it.or it all depends on shore or off of a boat
  4. if i was you i would go out, catch some chubs or crayfish, put them in a minnow bucket, put the trap in the water the first thing u get th ere, and then put em on the bottom, if youy feel a hit and then a fish takes it 20 bucks says its a pike
