Catherine Wagner and Kantie Riefenstahl secure victories in Austin - Texas Senior Circuit
Second session on day four of the 2011 Texas Senior Circuit conducted with several dazzling performances in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, July 10.
Catherine Wagner of CFSC won the Women’s 50m breast-stroke event, while Katie Riefenstahl snared the Women’s 100m back-stroke race. Christian Schurr captured the Men’s 50m breast-stroke, whereas, Jordan Hancock secured the gold medal in the Women’s 1500m
freestyle. Andrew Phillips of Longhorn nabbed the Men’s 1500m freestyle crown.
Wagner secured victory in the Women’s 50m breast-stroke meet in 33.09 seconds. Skylar Smith wound up second in 33.66 seconds and Bethany Adams of Longhorn was placed third in a time of 34.09 seconds.
In the second race, Christian Schurr of Longhorn won the Men’s 50m breast-stroke in 29.03 seconds. Eric Friedland wound up second in 29.56 seconds, whereas, Keanan Stevenson earned third place honours in 29.60 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m back-stroke, Katie Riefenstahl hit the wall in 1 minute and 03.32 seconds to earn the first place. Ellen Lobb of CFSC wound up second in 1 minute and 03.81 seconds, while Jess Guro settled third in a time of 1 minute and 04.27 seconds.
The Men’s 100m back-stroke event was captured by Patrick Murphy in 55.74 seconds. Meanwhile, Hayes Johnson finished second in 56.76 seconds and Cole Cragin was placed third in 57.57 seconds.
Jordan Hancock of FCST secured the golden crown in the Women’s 1500m freestyle finals with a sterling time of 16 minutes and 54.70 seconds. Lauren Ross earned silver title in 17 minutes and 05.86 seconds, whereas, Colleen Konetzke of Alamo Area grabbed bronze
in a time of 17 minutes and 28.79 seconds.
The Men’s 1500m freestyle crown was captured by Andrew Phillips in 15 minutes and 59.67 seconds. In the meantime, Elliot Dewlen of Woodlands wound up second in16 minutes and 07.30 seconds, while Manny Mendoza of Nitro secured the bronze medal in a time of
16 minutes and 10.34 seconds.
The Texas Senior Circuit is an opportunity for senior level swimmers to prepare for the upcoming FINA World Championships, starting from July 16-31, in Shanghai, China.
