Catrionas Joy with explosive chances of winning the £2,200 Joe Dolan/ICC Open 350 Semi-Final
Shelbourne Park will become home for the £2,200 Joe Dolan/ICC Open 350 Semi-Final over 350 yards flat on Wednesday, 20th June. Contesting for the €50 prize money are McHugh Himself, Barefoot Wally, Castle Jack, Catrionas Joy, Yadontbewell and
Cry After Dawn.
Leading with the best credentials is the evening’s favourite, Catrionas Joy, Razor Ashmore’s two-year-old brindle son out of b***h, Lils Glory. He is a very lightly raced hound with just three races in his debut season out of which two were wins.
He kick started the career with a victory in a 299 yards race on 19th April. He raced through the track distance in 16.56 seconds. The ½ favourite of the race led the runner up, Marshals Henry, by two and a half lengths.
His next try resulted in a second position. The two-year-old was entered as the 4/5 favourite of the race which was won by Marshals Henry in 16.46 seconds. Catrionas Joy missed the race by a very minor margin of just half a length.
His third try of the season found him to have bounced back into form as he won a 299 yards race on 6th May. He reached the other end of the wire in 16.21 seconds and led the runner up, Vacume Starlight, by two lengths.
His chances of grabbing the race tonight have surged because of the recent drill on 2nd June at the Shelbourne Park over 350 yards. It took the hound 19.33 seconds to rush through the track.
Another entry with quite high chances of making it beyond the wire before any other contestant today is Yadontbewell, Matt Hyland’s three-year-old black daughter out of b***h, Fortfield Girl.
She is a lightly raced hound with just four races on the profile out of which two are wins. She failed to a fourth position in the career debut and then claimed the very next race.
She won a 400 yards race at Dundalk on 2nd June by making it to the other end of the wire in 21.92 seconds and leading the runner up, Strom Blower, by 2 ¾ lengths.
She was then successful in a 400 yards race at Dundalk on 8th June. She clocked the track distance in 21.99 seconds and took charge of the final length.
