Question:

Cats and Cold Weather?

I've been living with my cats for 2 years in California. But because of my job, it seems like I have to settle in South Korea for a while.

The problem is that the Wikipedia claims that the average temperature in South Korea could go below 19F during winters.

I honestly don't care if I catch a cold or two, but I am concerned that my cats might suffer.

What should I do?

  1. as long as they are inside during the winter they will be fine

i have 2 cats and once it got to -45F and my cats were fine cause they just stayed inside

  2. Because of what is said about the animal abuse in Korea, do you really want to allow your cats outdoors?

But cats are perfectly capable of living outdoors summer and winter.  They just need a safe place from predators (including humans), adequate shelter from the elements, food and water.  On the really cold nights, you can bring the kitties indoors.

  3. As long as your cat is kept inside when it gets cold, there will be no problem.  Cats in cold places do just find :)

  4. If you are going to S Korea don't leave your cats outside- I believe that dogs and cats are "on the menu" there and that the poor will snatch up anything they can so they can eat- make your kitties indoor kitties for sure.
