  1. No, they are not...

I read a book some time ago (I wish I could remember the title) about a study on cats.

They found a few cats that liked to sort the alphabet magnets on the fridge into colors.  The cats grouped all of the red ones together, all the blue ones together, etc.

In another study, they gave cats paints, and one of the cats recreated (upside-down) one of Van Gogh's paintings (the one with the sunflowers).  It wasn't particularly good, but it looked good for a cat doing it!.

Then they put up a large piece of plexiglass and put paints in front of it.

The cats would stand on the side with the paint and look through it.

They painted red blobs where groups of red flowers could be seen on the other side, and white streaks where there was a fence.....

    It was actually pretty interesting.

But yes, cats can see color. :)

  2. Nope. Cats see color. Dogs are color blind.
