I've seen quite a few cats wandering around Disneyland and California Adventures. I heard that these cats are actually descendants from the original cats modeled for the Aristocats movie. Is it true?

  1. It is true!  However, the staff discourage anyone from feeding them which I think is wrong...

  2. No it isn't true. The cats in the parks are descendants of the feral cats that lived in the park 50 years ago. The story goes that shortly after the park opened, Walt and a couple other men climbed up into the Castle with the intent to turn it into an attraction. One of the men was well-known for wearing white suits. Well, they quickly discovered that the feral cats had taken up residence, and the man's white suit was quickly turning gray from all the fleas climbing on him (and the others). The Castle was de-loused, the cats given new homes, and the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough installed.

The cats are allowed to remain as they are excellent pest control. They are fixed, and are provided food and shelter. Under the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country you might find a couple feeding stations or cat homes.

  3. Yes it is true and rumor has it that anyone who rescues one of these cats will have good luck for the rest of their lives!

Catch one and give it a home. It may be the best thing you ever did for a cat!

  4. No, it's not.  In theory, they keep the rats - which I've seen several of now - under control.
