Question:

Cats eyes draining and swollen?

My female cat (17 years old) has a whitish drainage from her left eye and it is a bit swollen. I don't know what to do and have no way of taking her to the vet, can't afford it and have no car.

Anyone have any ideas who has had this problem with their cat?

  1. Anytime you have a whitish discharge from a wound (animal or human) it suggests infection. And that needs medication, like antibiotic eyedrops.

So please take her to the vet, it might not cost as much as you think! Put her in a cage and go on the bus. An infected eye can spread to the brain and she could die, would you not rather spend some money on her now? Imagine the pain she must already be in right now!

  2. Your cat really needs to be checked out by the vet. He will probably give you eye ointment which doesn't cost that much! If you do not treat this, your cat could become blind! Try and borrow money and a ride!

  3. Your cat should be checked by a vet. What your cat has is sounds like it's easily treatable, some type of URI, calicivirus, or herpes. In the meantime, go to the grocery store and pick up some Lysene pills, pop the pill open, and sprinkle it on your pets food. This will boost his immune system. It can also be bought at the vets (I just ordered some this AM!) in a sprinkle form so you wont have to break the pills open.
