Cats fighting! Please help?

I have an 11 year old and a kitten I got 5 months ago. Everytime I turn around they are fighting. We are living in an aprtment right now, but we are having a house built and will move in in about 2 weeks. My mom said they are to be outside cats. The 11 year old was outside cat before a tornado destroyed our house ( reason we are rebuilding). We got the kitten a couple of months after we rented the apartment. Once they are let back outside, will they get along, since they will have more space, or is there a way to get them to stop.

  1. They will learn to  put up with each other.  Also as the kitten gets older it will want to play less with the older cat.  They will probably never be great friends but just tolerate each other.

  2. Two of my cats hated each other for months. One usedt to chase the other one a lot, and they had these big fights, then one day, they put an end to their quarrels, and now they even sleep one meter away from each other. My guess is they were trying to establish who the boss would be. Cats are very territorial, you know. Your cats may be going through the same thing.

  3. what if their playing if their not keep them away from each other

  4. They will probably just avoid each other when they are outside.

  5. You might try the following:

    Stopping Fights Between Your Cats

Cat Behavior Problems - The occasional cat fight is expected in multiple cat households, because cats are territorial. However, when aggressive behavior becomes the norm, you can take steps to stop it.

These are some cat training tips I use, and a few more from Friskies cat food: Identify the aggressor and victim, then separate the cats when they can´t be supervised. Give the aggressor corrective measures, and the victim rewards.

Corrective measures can include: confinement in a less attractive space; place a collar and bell on the aggressor; squirt the aggressor with a water sprayer during agressive acts.

For the victim give rewards such as free roam of the house, plus edible and affection rewards.

Gradually increase the supervised interaction, rewarding good behavior and using corrective measures against cat agression.

  6. my cats fight all the time! usually its not really a problem, even though it's very annoying. so far we haven't been able to find a solution, but it's ok, as they haven't seriously hurt each other. they are both inside cats, so the fact the the house is too small for the both of them could be the reason. your cats probably will just avoid each other once they are outside, so it's nothing to worry about. for now, if you're really worried, just fill a spray bottle with water and spray whenever they do that. they will probably learn very quickly to stop fighting.

    hope this helps!
