Cats going blind ???

can anyone tell me how to tell if a cat is going blind.....what do i look for in his eyes??? we had our cat for about 10 years and just recently his right eye has been looking a little glossy and he has brown markings on his eye as well...

he's a long haired tabby if that helps

  1. You can't always tell - we had a cat who went very nearly completely blind (I think) but his eyes just looked a bit dulled, that was all. But he kept walking into chair legs and doors - which is a fairly obvious indicator, I suppose.


  2. better let the vet check him

    if he is on home made food , with out adding taurine+ supplements.. it might be a possibility.

    pls call the vet .

  3. If he starts walking into things...If he becomes less active and sits in one spot...Eyes should be clear. If you have the money, I'd take him to a vet.

  4. Look for a cloudy film over the eyes.  Could be cataracts.
