I have two cats, both house cats, one of them got out the other day and and was away for about an hour before she came back to the window. I am guessing she would have had another smell on her because now my other cat is hissing and growlin at her were as they have been living in harmony for the past 2 years. Why don't they recognise each other lol.

  1. kitty smells like outside

    other kitty hates the smell

    they will settle down

  2. My cat Tilly had a lovely baby boy we called him fluffy. he is a yr old now and she always hisses at him. I am guessing it is because he is a boy.

  3. I HAVE 5 CATS AND SOMETIMES THEY HISS AT EACH OTHER. NOT ALL THE TIME BUT ITS A PERSONALITY THING. I THINK YOU WILL FIND THEY WILL CALM DOWN IN TIME, KEEP AN EYE ON THEM THOUGH. GOOD LUCK...

  4. Cats mature at 2-3 years on average, so even harmonious buddies can become unhappy with each other if they are debating about their position in the home.  I presume both are spayed/neutered?  That is very important to help with the harmony!

I would suggest a check up for the cat that escaped, just to make sure that there is not a problem the other cat is picking up on.  It could be as simple as a smell, but why risk it?

  5. Your other cat is unhappy with your cat for being away and bringing back all those unusual smells back with it, it still recognises the cat but is not happy with it at the moment. Once the strange smell has worn off your cats should soon be on good terms with each other again.
