Catspan gets the best odds for Jan And Cindy´s (Growing Old Disgracefully) Novices´ Handicap Chase
Catspan has won the best odds for winning the Jan And Cindy´s (Growing Old Disgracefully) Novices´ Handicap Chase at Fontwell in England on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. A cash prize of £1,819 will be awarded to the winner of the class-5 event.
The stamina of all runners will be put to a stern test, as the overall distance to cover will be 2 miles and 2 furlongs. The going will be good to soft and a total of nine runners will be seen in action. Their names are as follows: Catspan, Haydens Mount,
Mutanaker, Doctor Ric, Terra Bleu, Lajidaal, Join The Navy, Tchang Goon and Benozzo Gozzoli.
Looking at the overall statistics of all runners, the bookmakers have favoured Catspan for the race. He has been in good form, thus the punters are likely to place a lot of bets in his favour.
The six-year-old gelding has participated in 11 events until now, winning one of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. He is a decent performer and will cause a lot of problems for his rivals at Fontwell.
In his most recent outing, the Charles Egerton’s trained runner took the second place, despite being rated as the favourite to win. He was expected to do well, but lacked the stamina to match the race winner.
Catspan will be partnered by veteran jockey, A. P. McCoy, who has won 266 chase races until now and has a terrific strike rate. He is considered to be one of the best jockeys in business and the punters will certainly risk a lot of money on him.
On the other hand, Doctor Ric has a very good record in the sport and he will definitely cause a few problems for his opponents at Fontwell. He has entered three races until now, but has never succeeded even once.
However, the seven-year-old gelding has secured one runner position and a couple of third place finishes, which means that he has never dropped out of the top three. He will be ridden by Colin Bolger, who has won a few chase events, but has a poor strike
rate overall.
Other than the top two favourites, Haydens Mount and Mutanaker will also be the ones to watch out for in the race.
