  1. All of the above...

  2. What the heck are you talking about?

"Wisdom of the tunnels"?  Now that's a good one.  Did we get that from the mole people?

And "hard ogres" too!  What about the even harder trolls, or somewhat softer goblins?

  3. Race has nothing to do with intelligence. On average the neanderthals actually had BIGGER brains than modern humans. The neanderthals are thought to have died out about 30-40 thousand years ago. There are two competing theories on this: one is that they were a subspecies of humans called Homo sapiens neandethalensis or they were an entirely different species Homo neanderthalensis. Either way they disappeared or interbred thousands of years ago. According to the Out-of-Africa theory all Homo sapiens evolved from the population of Homo erectus in Africa roughly 100,000 years ago and spread out to replace all other populations of of H. erectus in europe and asia. It is from this population that all anatomically modern humans are descended.

  4. Who's giving thumbs down to the perfectly correct answers on here?

Every one of us 6 billion and change people on Earth are descended from one woman, who lived in Africa about 150,000 years ago.  Every race evolved from that lady and her tribe some 50,000 years after we became human.

Race differences are very minor.  Many of them are cosmetic differences, most of which help the people survive whereever they're from: darker/lighter skin, different shapes and colors to the eyes, height variation, that sort of thing.  Some of them are slightly deeper adaptions, like European's tolerance for drinking milk, or Africans' tendency towards sickle cell anemia, which actually helps carriers fight... is it malaria?  I can't remember.

However, one thing that has not been shown to vary between racial groups is intelligence.  Yes, black kids tend to score a bit lower on their IQ tests than white kids.  This has been shown to be an effect of poverty and cultural bias, not innate intellegence.  Black kids tend to be poorer, thanks to a variety of factors like discrimination and the difficulty of people moving up economic classes.  Black kids may not have as stable a home environment, also thanks to those factors.  Any child who is raised in a middle or upper class home, with parents who are able to be involved, with access to a home computer and books, has the potential to do quite well.  Any child denied these things, which, unfortunately, a significant percentage of black children are, has to struggle a lot more to catch up with their luckier friends.

It's the same with every other group.  Asians are supposedly much smarter than us whites, particularly in math and science.  Why is this?  It's because most Asian societies have a very strong focus on families and education.  A child does well in school or shames the family, at least in enough families to give rise to this stereotype.  It's not because white people are dumber; it's just that we don't have that push behind us to become smarter.

  5. All of the above...all humans evolved from the same proto-humans. Neanderthals are thought to be a separate "branch"...not a direct ancestor. The entire human race has less genetic variance than a small family of chimpanzees. This suggests that all humans are descended from a small band of humans. Presumably a small group of humans who originated in Africa, and left around 150,000 years ago. Race is merely a social construct, it does not exist, genetically.

  6. there is no average difference in intellectual capability between any of the living human populations

  7. Your question is incoherent. I assume you are talking about the mean IQ variance between the races. So? The evolved moral position is that such group average differences are not calculated when dealing with individuals. We study populations and they may vary, but we deal with individuals who are not a statistic, so their variance is not considered in polite society. I see you are not of that particular society.
