I caught a little green frog swimming in my bf's pool and caught it for my son. I am not sure what kind of frog it is or what it eats.

My Bf's house is in MD and the frog is little, light green and has brown eyes. He has a FEW little dark green spots on him but only like 2 or 3

  1. I know that some of the people are telling you to release it back into the wild.  True wild things belong there.  I wanted to tell you that I have caught frogs in my area.  I have had them breed in my home.  I always released them when they were old enough to live on there own.  I'm no expert.  Don't claim to be.  But if you research it enough and take care of it properly you can have a happy froggy.  I get them crickets to eat and hand feed them wax worms and super worms.  You just need to identify what you have.  But if your unsure you can do it release him and go to the pet store and see about getting one from there.  They will be more than happy to help you learn how to properly care for it.  I've had the same frog for 9 years.  She's happy, a bit over weight lol.. but happy and she came from the wild.  Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

  2. Although the photo is not very clear, it appears to be a juvenile bullfrog, or possibly a green frog.

Both species are common, and easy to care for.

You do not need a vet- you simply need to research basic frog care, if you decide to keep it.

Here are a couple of BASIC care sheets:

    http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/species/bu...

    http://www.popularpets.net/frogs/care-sh...

  3. bring it to the vet. you would have to eventually anyways.

  4. typically it is illegal to catch and keep any wild animal.. especially frogs (as some are considered endangered and their wild population is on the decline so removing even one endangers there breeding populatin.

if you want a pet frog  - go to the pet store and buy one.. they need LIVE food.. crickets usually..

but seriously teach your son a valuable lesson.. wild things belong in the wild... please return him to the wild..

  5. look up on a pets or vets website for good info  call sum reptile stores for all info u will need. if they said you shoulda left it be i surgest you do so and put it back were u found it as usually animals that have been moved are depressed and you dont want a poisned frog living with your son.

numbers should b in local ohone book

  6. Return him to the wild. Wild things belong living in the wild. It will die if you keep it.

Elizabrth K's avatar is right. Read it.

  7. Have you been watching the news or reading the newspaper recently? Frogs everywhere are becoming endangered. They need to be in the wild so that they can thrive and reproduce. It is illegal to catch and keep a wild animal.

Those green frogs often die in captivity. They are not accostomed to being kept in small enclosures, and jump into the glass. This causes abrasions on their faces that become infected.
