  1. Why would you steal from a store? You never say how old you are? Time to get a job and pay for your own things.

  2. This is the 2nd question I've seen about stores "fining"

shoplifters. What up with that? Where is the authority to "fine"?

  3. You'll probably get fined $100 or more.  Seriously.  JC Penneys fines an automatic $250.

Parents have to see the letter, or you are going to juvenile hall if the fine is not paid.  Your parents could get in trouble as well.

Perhaps a good butt beating is in order here, especially since you want to hide it from them, and apparently haven't learned why stealing, even $18 worth, is so bad.  The public pays for the stuff that's stolen when the thieves aren't caught.  Get it?

I volunteer with Youth Court, so I know this stuff.

Edit: If you want to start showing the world how mature you are, the first place is to fess up to mom and dad about everything.  The punishment they give you will be less severe if you tell them yourselves, versus them getting a call from the store(and that will happen if the fine isn't paid), reading your mail, etc.

  4. $18?

You must be stupid and poor because by stealing you risked getting a criminal record, "getting shot by your parents" and losing all trust.

And to answer you questions, no one knows except the LPO. Just be grateful and maybe your parents should know about your irresponsible behavior.
