Ok, I am not here to whine, but just to get some more knowledge of what I just got myself into..

So I was stopped in FL for speeding. I made some payments, but did not finish it. So continued to drive. I was stopped again for speeding, and my license was suspended. I made a few payments, and stopped. I was stopped again in FL while my license was suspended, but I did not go to jail. More fines where added, and I started to pay but did not finish.

I moved to PA... and later was stopped again, but did not go to jail for driving with a suspended license from FL. Now my PA license is suspended. I started making payments, but did not finish.

I move to CO, and after a year, i get cought for speeding. I got tired of all this mess, and told the cop that I have a suspended license (The car is insured the whole time under my wifes name). So he does not arrest me... hands me a few citations, and a court date. I FINALLY stopped driving, and am freaked out. Does anyone know what might happen?

  1. In Australia our courts treat driving on a suspended licence as contempt of court and throw the book at you. Gaol time is usual if you do it twice. For your sake I hope they are softer in the US.

But get a brain - don't do it!

  2. What should happen or what will happen....

Should, you need to be taken off the streets before you kill someone (maybe even yourself).

Will, judge is going to look at your record and see that you have no concern for the law or other people.  You'll most likely see a horrendous fine, possibly some jail time.

Just my opinion.  I have a son that was killed by a speeding driver.  There's no sympathy here!

  3. I don't know the laws in CO, but in many states if an owner knowingly lets someone drive a vehicle without a license, the owner can have their license suspended.  So just hope they do not also suspend your wife's license.

  4. Tough you should of known better. You were not insured because you had a suspended license. Stop fooling yourself

You are a fool .Pay the fines you idiot. Then you would not have to worry. Your poor Wife

  5. Obviously you've been playing the system for a while, and once you get into court they're going to see your pattern.  Chances are good the judge will require you to pay everything in all states and bring him proof of that by (and he'll set another court date) or send you to jail.  If you don't bother to show up for the next court date, they will issue an arrest warrant and the next time you're stopped for speeding you will go to jail while your car goes to impound.

As others have pointed out, your insurance under your wife's name will be void with you driving and not having a license, and obviously not being named on the policy.

  6. Alot...and it ain't good,#1 you will have to pay fines in all three states. Keep all receipts. Then you will have to contact each state, show them you paid, and deal with them one at a time. There is a nationwide computer, that ensures you dont get suspended in one state and get a license in another. i know this cause i did it too.And the one time i was stinking drunk. That one was a nightmare to fix. Once u straighten it,DO NOT do it again cause they can Revoke you... Then your option goes to buying a scooter. Good luck i hope this helps. Oh yeah, all those fines are gonna add up,some gather interest,so save your cash, and take care of asap!

  7. You must pay all of the outstanding fines or go to jail.  Even then, Your license won't be re-instated for quite a while.  "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive"
