Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker is confident that his team will bounce back from the 2-4 defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 last week.
The defender took a closer and realistic look at the derby defeat and admitted that Chelsea were the better team on the day.
Tottenham had clearly been out of their depth in the first half as they fell behind courtesy of a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 strike. Chelsea had dominated the first half, especially in the midfield. Chelsea’s star power proved too much for Tottenham, who clearly missed
the calmness and composure of Moussa Dembele, who had been ruled out due to a hip injury.
Chelsea started the second half slowly, and allowed Tottenham to get back into the game. The hosts equalized through a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 slotted home their second goal.
It looked as if Tottenham will emerge as victors, but Chelsea had other plans. The in-form Juan Mata scored two quick goals to give the visitors a deserved lead, and then set up substitute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 for Chelsea’s fourth.
Tottenham had switched off, and had no one but themselves to blame for their first home defeat of the season. The defeat ended their 4-game winning streak, and must have been a hard pill to swallow for manager Andre Villas-Boas, who would have wanted nothing
more than a victory over his former employers.
Caulker spoke about the game, and insists that Tottenham will bounce back from the defeat and regain their form. He said:
"Obviously it was a disappointing result from our point of view," Caulker told the Spurs website. "We've been on a good run and that put an end to it.”
"I thought we came out really strongly in the first 10 minutes of the second half and played really well but I have to give credit to Chelsea, the better team won.”
"The lads are down but we have three away games now with two cup games either side of Southampton, so we'll look to bounce back quickly."
William Gallas insisted that his team’s defensive errors had the cost the game, and all three goals were easily avoidable. The French defender urged his team to recover and regain their momentum in the league when they travel to St. Mary’s this weekend.
