I've had to re-caulk the outside base of my shower 3 times, and it just will not stay on. I cannot put it on the inside base because the water will soften it and it will come off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. Are you giving it enough time to dry?

    Is your bathroom un-commonly humid?

Try it again, but give it plenty of time to dry and place a fan outside the bathroom door on high.  Aim it so that it pulls the air out of the bathroom.

  2. Did you try wiping the surface with rubbing alcohol first?

  3. How long did you wait after caulking the shower to use it?  Most caulks require 24 - 72 hours to cure.  Any water during that time will prevent the caulk from adhering properly.

  4. Clean the area well and make sure the area is dry. Use a tub and shower caulk, allow the caulk to dry for at least 2-4 hours before you shower again. It sounds like you had used the wrong type of caulk or didn't allow the caulk to cure proper.

    Good Luck

  5. remove ALL the caulk from the outside of the shower. Take a piece of 100 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the area you want to caulk. Once sanded, wipe down with a rag that has alcohol on it and then apply the caulk. This should make it adhere well, as you have roughed the surface up and properly cleansed the area

  6. try this, be sure surface is completly dry, use some alcohol to clean the spot your about to aply it ,dont use your bath until it dry completly
