Question:

Cause of Tail Bone Pain?

by  |  earlier

Last October I fell going down a hill and hurt my tailbone. The pain isn't as intense as it was at first, but after 10 months, it still hurts (particularly when I'm sitting). What did I do to it? I don't really have money to go to the doctors, but I'm kind of curious to see what you guys think.

  1. you should consider spinal decompresion thearapy

  2. You could have broken it and it didn't heal back properly and it is causing discomfort when you sit on it wrong since the bone is not the way it was before.

Not much you can do but go to dr and have him look at it or rebreak it.

  3. You need to see a doc asap. Take an Xray coz its cheaper or u should go in for a MRI it will immediately show where the problem is. It can be a slip disc and can leave one paralyzed too. I am not trying to alarm you or anything but please seriously consider it. Once you know what it is u can take medication and a lil physiotherapy will help. You should not take back injuries lightly.

Take care hope you get well soon

  4. Try a Chiropractor first. They are usually quite cheap and sometimes they can fix problems by back adjustments. Not always though, depends on what is wrong.

Btw, the only sure way to know what is wrong is by getting an MRI. Quite expensive though, but the only sure way to tell.

  5. you may have cracked something or it could be nerves, I would  search for a free clinic in your area, you better get it checked out

  6. I know what it most likely is -- a subluxated (misaligned) or even broken tailbone, properly called the coccyx. The coccyx is small and breaks very easily with a hard fall right on the backside. When this bone breaks or subluxates it puts direct pressure on the pudendal plexus of nerves which is what causes the pain. I would see if there are any chiropractors in your area who perform a technique called intra-rectal coccygeal manipulation. This helps quite a bit to relieve this type of pain, however chiropractors who actually use this technique are far an few between.

  7. I have the same problem. 2 years ago I went through a really bad mountainside experience in a really small truck. Anyways, I hurt my tailbone and went to the doctor after 6 months 'cause it still hurt. He said I had a permanently bruised tailbone. There's nothing you can do about it. It gets better after time, but if I sit directly on it for more than a couple hours, it starts hurting again. It's just a pain we'll have for a long time.

  8. well, did you try hitting it with a hammer "-" ? it always helps if you are poor ^.*~ later... hehe ^.^
