Question:

Causes behind bruising easily?

In the past 4 months, I've noticed I've started to bruise very easily. I've never experience this before. I'm not taking any medications that may thin my blood, I take a multivitamin, and I know my hemoglobin/iron levels are sufficient since I donate blood. What might cause me to start bruising so easily??

  1. If you've recently started bruising easily this can be dangerous. Probably it's nothing, but this is also one of the most common complaints that brings people in to be diagnosed with Leukemias. Just in case, you should really see a doctor ASAP.

  2. Bruising easily is not always the sign of a serious disorder. In fact, it usually just means you are more prone than others to the phenomenon. Sometimes, it suggests a slight abnormality of the blood vessels or a deficiency in blood clotting. Also, if you are fair skinned, bruises tend to be more prominent and even the slightest bruising is visible. If you bruise easily it may simply imply that your body is especially sensitive to capillary leakage. However, going to a doctor may help set your mind at ease that you do not have a more serious disorder.  See link for more info ♥

  3. You could be anemic.  I have this problem.  You could also have a thinning problem and a slight tap could allow for your blood vessels to break easier than they would with most people.  You may also just be more prone to bruising.
