Causes of Engine Coolant Leak?

I have a 1995 Ford Contour 2.0 litre car and the engine coolant is leaking after 3 months again after i had replaced the head gasket, water pump, machined the cylinder head and fitted a new timing belt.What is the cause of this problem?

  1. first and foremost try using "Bar Stop Leak" (or something like that) for radiator and coolant leaks. you can get it at auto zone or O'Reilly's or any auto parts store, i've had good experiences with that quick fix. it's a metallic gooey liquid in a clear bottle. follow the instructions on the bottle and if that doesn't help, start your car and let it idle while you open the hood and watch for any coolant, the first place you see coolant appear is most likely your primary leak, find out what gasket you can replace that is closest to where you see the leak.   2. might be that they did a sloppy job when they fixed the head.  but it might be  problem in that there is another leak.  ya gotta hunt for it.

  3. go back to where you had repairs done.  if they're reputable, they will fix it.  it could just be a hose clamp leaking.  Good Luck !!!
