  1. one of the more immediate causes was the "Jumonville affair" when a young lt col from Virginia massacred several important French officers igniting the war which would have come anyway

The Lt. Col's name, George Washington, yes that one

  2.     One of the causes of the French and Indian war was the fact that

France and Britain were world rivals. They were fighting each other

over lands in India and the Caribbean too. The French and Indian War

was part of a Global conflict between the 2 countries for dominance

       in trade and political power,

It was NOT so much about religion neither power really cared to

much towards spreading their religion, TRADE and ECONOMIC

      POWER was the primary concern

Look in North America the French were only interested in the fur

trade, coureurs de bois--runners of the woods, were fur traders who

wanted to kep the interior of the Ohio Valley and Canada forrested

so that they could make the BIG MONEY. The government, which

made money from the trade liked the idea and besides the British

hated the idea, what more could the French want? The 13 colonies

and England wished to expand their area, or what they thought was

theirs. They chopped down the trees and farmed the area and killed

those "pesky' little indians who tried to stop them by killing them.

So Long Range reasons --- Global Power by way of controlling

Economics, or which country gets to be rich by plundering the

        world's natural resources.

Short range-- keep the Ohio Valley French with lots of trees and

fur trade which keeps the indians happy or let the English seize the

land chop down the trees, farm the land, and move the indians out.

By the way the English won but that is another story.

                            hope that helps. packers.

      .

  3. fur trade in the ohio valley, the english feared papal influence in N.A., French feared anti-catholic feelings among the british, fishing rights along the grand banks, Céloron's expedition, Langlade's expedition, Marin's expedition, Tanaghrisson's proclamation, Dinwiddie's reaction
