Cavity Problems?

I just got my first cavity and I have to go get it filled tomorrow. I was wondering if it hurt and how much (1-5, 5 the worst 1 the least)? What is the process? And how long does it take? The dentist said it was a small cavity on the lower left tooth!

  1. It doesn't hurt at all. You're lucky, it's only your first cavity! Wow. Lol. Kids get like five cavities just at the age of five. Anyways, the thing that hurts the most is the numbing shot. But I have no problem with that, because I also have braces. Lol. I'm used to it, so I didn't feel anything. Basically what they do is drill a hole in your tooth and fill it with, well, filling. It shouldn't take very long, 10-25 minutes at the most. On a scale of 1-5 for pain, I would say 0. If it's a small cavity, it shouldn't be too bad. Good luck!

  2. It's nothing, you won't feel the drilling or anything. The only thing you will feel is the shot to numb your mouth; ask them to put some orajel on the spot before they give you the shot; that way you won't even feel that. As far as rating pain 1 to 5, it will be a 0. Relax!

  3. It honestly depends person to person. I don't think it hurts to get a filling I just REALLY dislike the taste, smell, and textures of the products they use. If it is possible and covered by your insurance get a resin filling. They are less noticable and more comfortable.
