Cay Verde favourite for Norfolk Stakes
Cay Verde has been awarded with best odds for the Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) at Ascot in England on Thursday, June 21, 2012. A cash prize of £42,533 will be awarded to the winner of the class-1 event.
The track conditions will be good to soft in the 5 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 14:30 GMT, and a total of 12 runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Cay Verde, Ahern, Reckless Abandon, Annunciation, Mister Marc,
Gale Force Ten, Morawij, Ian´s Dream, Storm Moon, Jubilee Brig, Ocean Applause and Complicator.
Although most of the participants are inexperienced at this level, the competition will be an exciting one. The shorter distance of the race and the conditions will suit Cay Verde more than anyone else, thus the punters will be eager to place a lot of bets
in his favour.
The two-year-old colt has participated in three events and his performances in them have been quite impressive. He was unable to make a big impression on his debut, finishing fifth in it.
However, the Mick Channon’s trainee had improved his performances afterwards and delivered some solid results in his next couple of outings, winning both of them. This would have given a boost to his confidence and he will be chasing a hat-trick of victories
today.
Despite not being rated as the favourite in his most recent race, Cay Verde performed very well and finished on top of the table by almost one length. He showed excellent speed and skills that time around and a similar show will definitely put him in contention
of another victory.
The favourite runner will be partnered by young jockey, Craig A. Williams, who does not have a lot of experience, but has got the potential to become one of the best in the business. He will be looking forward to a strong show at Ascot today.
There is a chance for Ahern to cause an upset in the race, as he is a fine runner. He has entered just one event and managed to be triumphant in it. If he gets a clear run, he will definitely cause a few problems for Cay Verde.
