Arsenal have been dominating transfer news lately, much to the surprise of many. The club has been linked to players such as Spain’s Santiago Cazorla and French defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila. It is however the former who is the subject of much interest
and excitement of tabloids, websites and newspapers.
The Spanish playmaker/winger is regarded as one of the best La Liga players outside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid, and has gathered a lot of interest from the football world over the past few seasons. The 27-year old is an established Spanish international with
two Euro titles to his name. He is also one of the most consistent players in the Spanish league, with bags of experience, ability and talent.
Arsenal’s link to the Spanish comes as a surprise due to two main reasons: his price-tag and age. The player's current club are reportedly holding out for £20 million, but other reports suggest a deal could be completed for just £18 million.
Arsenal are not normally associated with big name signings. This season could see a change in philosophy as the North London club have already signed two established and proven international strikers. The Gunners signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 from FC Cologne and
later acquired Frenchman Olivier Giroud from French champions Montpellier earlier this summer.
Cazorla could be the North London club's third high profile signing of the summer and if the deal goes through, the player will strengthen an Arsenal squad that already boasts of versatile attacking talent, pace and creativity. Though not as big as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
squad, in terms of both money and profile, Arsenal’s squad is up there in the top four squads of the English top flight.
Signing Cazorla will solve a number of problems for the North London club. The Gunners struggled with creativity last season, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 given the colossal task of being the creative hub of the team in the wake of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri’s departures.
The Welshman had an impressive start to the season, but crumbled under the pressure later on and was unable to deliver. Jack Wilshere’s lengthy spell on the sidelines did not help either, and added more burden on the playmakers young shoulders.
Having a versatile and technically gifted player such as Cazorla is sure to uplift any team. The player has a proven track record with former club Villarreal. He is quite comfortable with both feet and has this impressive ability to glide past defenders
and open up defences with his incisive short and long range passing.
In a nutshell, Cazorla is a natural winger, but he played in the centre last season for current club Malaga. The player helped his side to the Champions League spot and enjoyed one of his best seasons in the La Liga.
The 27-year old managed 38 appearances for the club and scored 9 goals. He also bagged 5 assists and started every single game for Malaga. According to various statistic websites, Cazorla was ranked the 4th highest rated player in La Liga, falling
behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and Xavi. That is an impressive statistic as any, especially if you consider the competition he was up against.
Cazorla has many assets; he can dribble past defenders with relative ease, has impressive pace and balance and is very capable at set-pieces. Last season’s free kick against Real Madrid was one of the best free-kicks I have seen all season. This is something
that Arsenal have lacked since the departure of Henry all those years ago. A capable free kick taker will add a direct threat from set-pieces and make Arsenal more dangerous than they already are.
His greatest strength is however his ability to pick out a pass. Though no Fabregas, the player is a constant threat with his pin-point passing. He also has a killer shot and is not afraid to score from a distance.
It will be interesting to see where he’ll be deployed if he ends up joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. At the moment, the clubs is in dire need of a central attacking player who can operate right behind the front three. If the Spanish ends up moving to the Emirates, he’ll
join the likes of Giroud, Podolski, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755, Walcott and (possibly) Van Persie in attack. That is a formidable and dangerous attacking line-up that is sure to cause any defender a lot of problems.
