After listing to a cd for like 5min really loud the cd will stop playing and you only hear the bass from the subwoofer. You need to wait like 10min then the cd will work fine again...

Work fine then its not really loud?

Any ideas ? Ty

  1. This is telling me that your amp you have hooked to your highs is going into protect mode(overheating) and when it cools off it comes back on----Disconnect your battery neg, then remove speaker wires after marking the location of them, then put a ohm meter across the pos/neg of each speaker going into amp....Make sure your amp can handle this load rating you are giving it. what did the meter read? 4ohm? 2ohm? 1 ohm? check the amps manual to make sure it is o.k.

  2. Your stereo system is weak. Get a stronger system, or get used to listening to CDs at a reasonable volume.

  3. The amplifier of your car can be indicating over temperature (Thermal warning) due to which the audio output is muted. Now when the temperature indication turns off, audio is heard again.

Could it be that there is some shorting due to which the amplifier is getting heated.

Else if you ideally play a 0dB track (around 1 KHz SONY test CD type 4) you get the indication that the thermal warning bit in the amplifier is set.

I guess you are not playing the music this loud.

  4. what amp, subs
