Cecilie Johannessen secures three gold titles - 2011 Norway Long Course Championships
Norwegian’s Cecilie Johannessen secured three gold medals with her wonderful performance at the 2011 Norway Long Course Championships held in Drammen, Norway, from July 9-12, 2011. Johannessen snared three gold medals in the Women’s 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle
events.
Initially, she grabbed the gold medal in the Women’s 200m freestyle finals, where she completed the distance in 2 minutes and 01.66 seconds. Meanwhile, Victoria Loken earned silver in 2 minutes and 03.50 seconds and Ingvild Snildal settled for the bronze
medal in a time of 2 minutes and 05.57 seconds.
Johannessen then captured the gold title in the Women’s 400m freestyle finals, as she completed the race in a time of 4 minutes and 18.02 seconds. Elin Slaatmo wound up second in 4 minutes and 19.74 seconds, whereas, Victoria Loken earned the third place
honours in 4 minutes and 22.19 seconds.
In the third event, Johannessen secured the gold medal in the Women’s 800m freestyle after she posted the fastest time of 8 minutes and 54.08 seconds. Elin Slaatmo wound up second in 8 minutes and 55.93 seconds, while Lise Sand Syversen rounded out the top
three in 9 minutes and 04.88 seconds.
After securing three gold medals in the corresponding races, Johannessen was elated with her individual performances in the championship.
Additionally, Olympian, Gard Kvale clinched two gold medals in the event. Kvale earned victories in the Men’s 400m and 800m freestyle events. He took home the Men's 400m freestyle crown in 3 minutes and 58.96 seconds, whereas, Morten Bordervich earned silver
in 4 minutes and 06.27 seconds. The bronze title went to Oscar Slaatmo in a time of 4 minutes and 06.83 seconds.
Kvale snagged the Men’s 800m freestyle title in 8 minutes and 26.79 seconds. Meanwhile, Morten Bordervich hit the wall in 8 minutes and 27.86 seconds to grab silver and Oscar Slaatmo captured bronze in a time of 8 minutes and 27.90 seconds.
Aleksander Hetland nabbed the Men's 50m freestyle title in 23.37 seconds, while Oystein Hetland was placed second in 23.76 seconds and Gard Kvale settled third in 23.77 seconds.
The Women’s 50m butterfly crown was clinched by Ingvild Snildal in 27.04 seconds. Katharina Stiberg earned silver in 27.21 seconds, while Bryndis Run Hansen grabbed bronze in 27.85 seconds. The Women’s 1500m freestyle crown was captured by Erin Slaatmo in
17 minutes and 04.04 seconds.
Alexander Broberg Skeltved secured the gold medal in the Men’s 400m IM in 4 minutes and 34.79 seconds, whereas, Lavrans Solli earned the gold medal in the Men's 200m back-stroke in 2 minutes and 04.91 seconds.
