Cecilie Lundgreen triumphs at Women’s Bank Open
Cecilie Lundgreen added another LET Access title to her already growing career record by winning the Women's Bank Open by Catmandoo hosted by HLR Golf Academy.
The Norwegian player has already played great throughout the year and this event was no surprise. She posted a final score of seven-under par-206. The tournament was played in windy conditions that hindered the players and made the game really challenging.
The first round went well for Lundgreen who started off on a strong note. She scored a total of 68 points that put her in a strong lead. The second round saw her scoring 69 points.
This was mainly due to the winds, which had picked up during the round. The final round was a repeat of the second round and ended with a score of 69.
This win is very vital for the Norwegian player who is looking for a full card to the 2013 LET tournaments. After this win, she is now in the third place in the LET Access Series Order of Merit. She has a very good chance of getting full access to the LET
2013 season.
Talking about her win, Cecilie Lundgreen said, “I have played very well in the Nordic countries winning in Sweden and now in Finland. My next competition is in Denmark, and as I have some Danish blood from my father I think I could make another good competition
there”.
The second place went to Nina Holleder from Germany. She scored 209 points. The third place went to two players, Xin Ying Wang from China and Linda Henriksson from Finland. Both these players scored 211 points.
Women’s Bank Open is part of the charity efforts by Finnish Golf Union and The Women´s Bank Charity. Golf clubs and golfers from all over Finland support this coordinated effort.
The purpose is to generate money for various charities that operate in the developing countries. This tournament was the flagship event of this drive and was supported by LET.
The ambassadors of the charity were Ursula Wikström, Minea Blomqvist-Kakko and Kaisa Ruuttila. All these players regularly appear in charity events.
