Cedar Wood Round Tub - what to plant?

What to plant in my pot, I have two? 16" diameter, 16"W x 12"H What plants are best suited and will look best?

I live in Connecticut, Zone 5.

I like edible landscaping. but if i was thinking of looks, i might consider something that contrasts with the color of the tub or that compliments the color of my house.

^^that color (or interest) i would want to be present during all or at least the "right" seasons. like does it need to be year round? or will other stuff take over in the spring...

and of course the plant would have to be the right size, so it could live healthily in that size of tub. and be able to live healthily with the placement of the tub. like is it going to get hot or windy or whatever.

so then i would go looking at plant selectors. they let u choose certain traits u want ur plant to have and then they tell u what plants meet that criteria:
