The Bordeaux goalkeeper is in confident mood as his team prepares to kick-start their 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign
Les Girondins enjoyed a good campaign last season, finishing fifth in the league and qualifying for the Europa League in the process.
And Cedric Carrasso believes that his team can continue their fine run of form that saw them finish fifth in the Ligue 1 last season
While talking to reporters, the 30-year-old stated that Bordeaux performed well last year and they will try to continue that this time around. FCGB have many quality players at their disposal, and the club shot-stopper feels that Les Girondins can improve
from last season and players are aiming for a good, successful season.
"We will try to continue on the good process launched last year. The group is good, even if there are some things to improve on. But we have a fresh mind and we want to have a good season,” the former Toulouse shot-stopper told reporters.
While so many clubs in the country have overhauled their squads this summer, Bordeaux are entering the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign with almost the same group of players. And Carrasso believes that this could help Bordeaux in their quest for a good campaign.
"Yes, it's an advantage of having a team with players who know each other. But the championship is going to be difficult, so we need to be focused.”
The former Marseille player added that Bordeaux will try to be as competitive as they can and will give hard time to their opponents in the Ligue 1.
Les Girondins will travel to Parc des Sports, to take on Evian TG in their first match of the season, and Cedric Carrasso is aware of the intensity of the game.
"Yes it is an away game against Evian that will be difficult to play. I think every game is tough these days. It remains a difficult match and we should be prepared."
