In an interview with France Football, FC Girondins de Bordeaux goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso told media why he does not want to leave the Aquitaine club despite seeing his side struggle in recent seasons.
In two and a half season, 30-year-old Cedric Carrasso has experienced tough times at Ligue 1 outfit FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
Under the guidance of Laurent Blanc in the 2009/2010 Ligue 1 campaign, Bordeaux were one of the best teams in France. However, Blanc went on to become the manager of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 national side and since then, the club has struggled a lot to maintain the momentum.
The 2010/2011 campaign would always be remembered as one of the worst seasons the club ever experienced under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Tigana.
However, despite the club’s recent failures, Carrasso has been a modicum of consistency and has been attracting considerable interest from the likes of German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Schalke 04.
When asked about his future, Carrasso said that he is not looking to jump ship at all.
“Bordeaux gave a lot for me to come and I made a lot, and I want to achieve something with the Girondins. Frankly, I still feel something’s missing,” said the shot-stopper.
The native of Avignon has sworn fidelity to Bordeaux and is keen on staying with the club during the most testing times.
“I will not leave Bordeaux if we fail. That would be cheating on myself. If I go after my contract expires, I would want to leave knowing that I succeeded in my mission, I can’t leave without that,” Carrasso said thus indicating of his desire to leave the
club only when Bordeaux have once again returned to their previous status of French Ligue 1’s best.
Along with coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot, Carrasso knows that the club is in a transitional phase and all players are aiming to do something good for a club that a few seasons ago, was playing regularly in the UEFA Champions League and were always competing for top
honours in domestic football.
Carrasso’s sentiments would certainly be appreciated a lot by the Bordeaux faithful who have been very patient with the club during such harsh circumstances.
