Ceiling Fan placement?

I have a high arch ceiling in my living room apartment. And putting a ceiling fan there is not an option. I have a lower ceiling in my dinning room. Which is just off my LR. Where I can put one. Would it be effective there in pulling the heat down out of my living room ceiling in the winter?

  1. yes, get one that is about 52" or so, and in the winter reverse the blade spin (direction of rotation, not the blades themselves), so the it pushes the warmer air down....you want it to pull up in the summer, and push down (air pattern) in the winter.  I have fans in three of my down stairs rooms.
