Ceiling Kitty set to stand first in Queen Mary Stakes
Ceiling Kitty seems to be awash with winning momentum and fighting potential that will help her lift the ace title of the Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies), a high-profile Class 1 contest that is going to take place at Ascot racecourse on Wednesday, June 20. The action is scheduled to start at 5:00 (GMT).
On the good course of 5 furlongs, the Tom Dascombe-trained bay filly is entitled to face 26 rivals including some big guns like Mironica, Jadanna and Graphic Guest. A prize cheque worth £42,533 will be awarded to the winner at the end of the event.
Ceiling Kitty has been at the peak of form and impetus since the very beginning of her career. The two-year-old novice runner staged a classic debut with a runner-up rank on March 31, 2012. She was 11-4 favourite for that race.
The brilliant daughter of Red Clubs out of Baldovina moved on to finish 4th in the next outing on April 18. Then the maverick sprinter picked up miraculous momentum and bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs in May by delivering offensive and outstanding performances.
These remarkable feats have boosted up the young runner’s morale to a great extent, making her a strong contender for the Mary Stakes title.
In today’s contest, the fantastic filly will run under her regular jockey Richard Kingscote in a bid to complete her maiden hat-trick.
However, she will have to face a lot of resistance from Mironica and Jadanna on her way towards the finish line.
Mironica stunned the horseracing world with her epic triumph in her only race that was held at Naas racecourse on May 16, 2012. Being a joint favourite runner along with Teoirim, the daughter of Excellent Art out of Lisfannon elegantly notched up top rank in Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden.
In the coming contest, she will pose stern challenges to Ceiling Kitty and there is likely to be a fierce battle between these two runners.
Jadanna is too likely to fight hard for success. The James Given-trained bay filly is on the verge of a hat-trick as she has won both the races of her career so far.
Thus, there will a rip-roaring clash in the Stakes. The event will have many twists and turns. Good luck to all the contestants.
