Thank you so much for your helpful response - I will get a new fan! In the meantime, is the high pitched noise representing a danger? As I said, I turn off the circuit breaker (which turns off everything else on the circuit) but the fan still makes that high pitch noise. Is there a hazard until I can get it off the ceiling? Thanks again Susan
