Ceiling fan help?

Okay so my mom's boyfriend says that the house would get cooler if we had our ceiling fans on low and our a/c units on high.

...Is this true?

ceiling fans help circulate the cool air better through out your house so it feels cooler, whether it actually does what your mom's boyfriend says or not is a different story....but like i said the ceiling fans help to circulate the air and make your rooms feel cooler

The ceiling fans will help the area cool more efficiently, because there won't be warm/cold spots, as the air is moving.

As far as it going back into the ac unit - kinda, but not quite the way he's saying....  Depends on if the A/C is a whole house unit or window units.
