  1. I doubt they are and they are much cheaper than an air conditioner.

  2. No, they really don't use that much energy. I never shut off the ceiling fans in my dining room or my bedroom, and my electric bill is less than $30 a month.  I have two cats so I think it's important to keep the air circulating in the house for them.

  3. Nope, and a nice breeze always makes a rom cooler.

  4. nope

shut them off during the day when your at work though its watsting energy!

  5. yes, try switching all electrical appliances off at night and you will see the difference in your bill.

ceiling fans only serve to push the hot air down and make the heat worse. to keep a room cool at night - close the curtains/ blinds during the day and open them at night.

do the opposite to keep a room warm at night.

  6. If there's no circulation they can actually make the room warmer.

  7. Ceiling fans don't draw a lot of current. A typical central air conditioning unit uses 3,500 watts of energy when running. A typical ceiling fan uses 60 watts of energy, even when running on high. Thus, if you ran your ceiling fan all day and it managed to decrease your home air conditioner use by just thirty minutes in a twenty four hour period, you’ll end up saving significant money over the long run with a ceiling fan.

Look for the Energy Star label in fans. Fans with the Energy Star label are qualified and allow higher savings. They have improved motors and improved blades and move air more efficiently.
