Ceiling mushroom indoor fungi?

there was a mushroom on the corner of my ceiling...i removed it but i kinda broke it and it fell everywhere...i removed it and wiped it with bleach and after that i kinda touched my table...should i clean my table or clean my whole room? or is it ok? i was wearing latex gloves. the musroom was dark brownish to black it had like a whitish spot in the middle. thanks in advance

  1. That is definately worrisome.  You need to find someone who knows how to sheetrock to help you or just ask their advice.  You are going to need to remove that piece of sheetrock and see what is behind it.  Is there a water stain on the ceiling where the mushroom grew out?

    Do the necessary repairs / cleaning and replace the sheetrock.  Good Luck!

It means you have a source of moisture either in your ceiling or somewhere in the walls or in the crawl space.  The bleach you used might help keep more mushrooms from sprouting in the same spot; however, you need to inspect the source of the moisture and fix it before it causes other problems like mildew, water damage, and/or mold.

  3. I think you need to call someone who can look for mushrooms in your home, mushooms aren't supposed to grow indoors on walls and ceilings. It's a sign of much nastier things...
